Raul Perestrello from Madeira will officially present his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic on 11 July. The ceremony will take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Lisbon, where he will present his candidacy guidelines. 

In a note sent to the press, the businessman, born in Machico in 1964, points out that "Portugal needs new approaches, new voices and new energy to enhance itself and face the challenges of the present and the future". ". This candidacy is born out of this call to valorise the country and the Portuguese," he says.

The candidate has emigrated to South Africa and Australia, having led businesses in the fine jewellery and real estate sectors, operating in countries such as Australia, Germany, China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Portugal.

In 2023, Raul Perestrello presented his intention to be a candidate for the leadership of PSD-Madeira, against Miguel Albuquerque. In 2024, he continued to maintain this intention and promised to work to present a list to run for this internal act.
